TSUE Scholar Honored for Her Contribution to the Uzbek Translation of Adam Smith’s The Wealth of Nations
As part of the “Financial Knowledge” project, initiated by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, significant efforts have been made to translate major works of global economic thought and international bestsellers into Uzbek and make them accessible to a wider readership.
Within the framework of this initiative, Dr. Zebo Kuldasheva, Doctor of Economic Sciences and a scholar at Tashkent State University of Economics, was honored by Olimjon Davlatov, Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan, for her contribution as a scientific editor to the Uzbek translation of Adam Smith’s renowned work, The Wealth of Nations.
The project has also facilitated the translation of several internationally acclaimed works into Uzbek, including Gregory Mankiw’s Macroeconomics, Milton Friedman’s Capitalism and Freedom, Hal Varian and Marc Melitz’s Microeconomics, John Cassidy’s How Markets Fail, Frederic Mishkin’s The Economics of Money, Banking, and Financial Markets, and Sebastian Edwards’s The Chile Project.
One of the key features of this initiative is the establishment of rigorous academic standards for selecting scientific editors. Particular attention has been given to candidates who have earned PhD degrees from universities ranked among the world’s top 300 institutions and possess extensive international academic and professional experience.
In the second phase of the project, an additional 30 international bestsellers in finance and economics are planned to be translated into Uzbek.
This initiative aims to promote economic literacy in Uzbekistan, enrich the collection of modern economic literature available in the Uzbek language, and encourage the broader application of international academic knowledge and expertise in education and research.
